TEESWATER FAIR AMBASSADOR

2024-2025 Ambassador Information

The Teeswater Agricultural Society would be honoured to have you represent them as the 2024-2025 TEESWATER FAIR AMBASSADOR. This program is open to young males and females between the ages of 17-22, as of Aug 1, 2024 who reside in Teeswater and surrounding areas. We will once again be offering a bursary to the winner upon the successful completion of his or her reign. This is a wonderful opportunity for youth to get involved with the Agricultural Society. This is an excellent opportunity for young people to develop communication skills, leadership opportunities, presentation and interview experience for future job placements, as well as developing a large social network.

Each contestant will:

Write and present a 2-3 min. speech
Submit a cover letter and resume ahead of the program so that the judges can review them
Answer an impromptu question
Be interviewed by a panel of judges
Receive a gift basket for participating
Help out during fair weekend

The Ambassador will have a chance to travel to Toronto for 2 different events; including the OAAS Fair Convention in February and the Ambassadors of the Fair competition at the CNE in August 2025. They will represent the TEESWATER AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY at various activities throughout their year as Ambassador.

The program will be held at the Teeswater Agri-curl on Saturday August 12th with the time to be determined. Erica Haldenby, SR Ambassador 2023-2024

Welcome to the 168th Teeswater Fall Fair!

My name is Erica Haldenby, and I was very privileged to represent my hometown as the 2023/2024 Senior Ambassador. It is an honour to have a community like mine and to have been born and raised in Teeswater my whole life. In August, I was crowned and from there it has been a fun filled year! It has been a great year, and I am with mixed emotions to finish my reign but so grateful I was offered this opportunity.

I started my duties as the 2023 Fall Fair Ambassador where I was able to help with a variety of events. I welcomed everyone to the fair at opening ceremonies, along with walking around the fair grounds greeting everyone. Saturday I was able to see the smiling kids faces at the Kidz-Zone handing out ribbons, helping at the announcer booth for the track events and handing out prizes and ribbons at the Baby Show on Sunday. To end the weekend, I helped at the Pie and Cake Auction displaying all the delicious looking desserts! Lastly, I participated in the parade, which personally is my favourite event at the Fair. It was a great turnout, and it was great to see everyone supporting Teeswater.

Following the fair, I was actively involved with community events, monthly meetings and district meetings where I was able to learn how much Ag Societies do for us. I partook in the Teeswater Santa Parade, riding on the Teeswater Ag. Society float and helped hand out treat bags to all the kids after their visit with Santa. Teeswater showed a great amount of Christmas spirit! One of my favourite events as the ambassador of Teeswater was the OAAS Convention. This was held in Toronto, and I was able to meeting just over 70 other amazing ambassadors from across Ontario. I spent three days getting to know them and hanging out with them all day! This was a great networking opportunity and a great way to bring new ideas to our fair.

As my time as the 2023-2024 Teeswater Senior Ambassador comes to an end, I would like to take the time to thank the Teeswater Agricultural Society who provided me with this unforgettable experience. Thank you to all the volunteers and members of the fair board for all your hard work you do for our community and thank you to all the sponsors who make the fair possible.

I am excited to representing Teeswater at the CNE this weekend and I wish good luck to all the competitors this year. I look forward to crowning this years 2024-2025 Senior Ambassador. I hope the new ambassador will enjoy every moment possible.
